Odds Now’s resident golf tipster Ross Kilvington returns to tipping duties with a preview of the 2025 DP World Tour Championship - the European Tour's season finale.
Ross sets the scene for us ahead of this bumper event and offers up two betting selections.
This is it. After 41 events, the season-ending DP World Tour Championship features the top 50 players in the Race to Dubai standings who will battle it out at the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Last week, Aaron Rai claimed a stunning victory at the Abu Dhabi Championship, prevailing over Tommy Fleetwood in a playoff – and more drama looks assured here in the Middle East.
Rory McIlroy remains an overwhelming favourite to win his seventh Race To Dubai crown, with contender Marco Penge really needing to win this and hope the Northern Irishman has an off week.
It promises to be yet another thrilling finish to the season and we at Odds Now have a couple of selections for you ahead of what should be a pulsating event.
Shane Lowry has been trending nicely ahead of this week.
He finished third at the DP World India Championship a fortnight ago, before shooting four rounds in the 60s to seal a T12 result last week.
The 2019 Open champion started off with a superb round of 64 on Thursday, but he failed to take advantage over the following three days.
But the underlying numbers are also positive for the big Irishman. In India a few weeks ago, Lowry ranked third overall for stroke average (67.5) and SG: Total (+3.13), while also ranking fourth for SG: Approach (+1.71) – missing out on the title by just four strokes.
He hasn’t won an individual PGA or DP World Tour title since the 2022 BMW PGA Championship (the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans was a team event) and having enjoyed a great year, Lowry will head to Dubai feeling he has a strong chance of ending that drought.
The Ryder Cup star has a solid record at this event, too. Fifth in 2014, T2 in 2017 and T3 last year suggests he is certainly due a win here.
Add in another four top-20 finishes throughout the years and its clear that Lowry is comfortable with the course. He makes the most appeal of the market leaders.
For those who prefer a bigger price, Andy Sullivan has some good memories at this tournament.
In 2015, he finished runner-up to McIlroy and has since recorded another two top-ten finishes at the DP World Tour's season-closer.
What’s more encouraging is his recent form. After battling back from various issues in recent years, Sullivan is now playing some lovely golf.
Indeed, he recorded a T7 result last week. This came just a week after a T4 finish at the Genesis, finishing just four strokes behind the winner.
Ranking fourth in the field for both stroke average (69.25) and SG: Total (+2.08), this is clearly a player trending in the right direction.
And while a win in Dubai might prove a slight stretch for the Englishman, I really do think Bet365's quote of 66/1 for six-places each way terms is extremely generous.
