Ryder Cup 2025 Betting Preview: Europe can edge epic Bethpage Black battle

Odds Now's golf expert Ross Kilvington tees up one of the most hotly anticipated weeks in the sport, as the 2025 Ryder Cup begins on Friday afternoon.

Ryder Cup week is finally here. Friday will feel like Christmas morning to golf fans at either side of the Atlantic – but before then, plenty of predictions, haedlines and hype is still to be generated.

Indeed, this feels like one of the most hotly anticipated editions of the biennial competition for quite some time.

Think of Scottie Scheffler’s generational run of form. Rory McIlroy’s completion of the grand slam. Keegan Bradley’s will he/won't he decision regarding being the first playing captain since 1963. Then, add in a course rated as the third-most difficult in the history of the competition, and all signs point to a potentially epic three days of action.

This week, we at Odds Now will preview the event, offering tips and selections across a range of markets.

Today, let's focus on the main outcome markets before taking a dive into the individual player angles later this week.

Ryder Cup 2025 betting tips

Correct Score – Europe 14.5 – 13.5 USA - 13/1 (AK Bets)

Europe are the underdogs, no doubt about that. But I just think this feels like the right time for them to seal another precious away victory.

They have done it once before in New York, prevailing at Oak Hill in 1995, where they overturned a last-day deficit to seal only their second away triumph.

This year, the fans will be just as boisterous as they were 30 years ago – but Luke Donald has a settled team at his disposal who look capable of handling such a challenge.

Indeed, 11 of the 12 that won in Rome two years ago will be at Bethpage Black. Rasmus Hojgaard replaces his brother in a solitary switch, and that continuity could turn out to be Europe’s greatest strength this week.

Since the ‘Miracle of Medinah’ in 2012, the Ryder Cup hasn’t been a particularly close contest. Between 2014 and 2023, the five final scores have been 16.5-11.5, 17-11, 17.5-10.5, 19-9 and 16.5-11.5. The home team claimed victory in each of those five renewals, too.

But this year feels very different and there may be some value to exploit as a result.

For starters, chancing some of the 13/1 for Europe to win by the narrowest of margins represents will make a fine interest bet and should remain firmly in the mix come Sunday afternoon.

Winning margin – Europe 1-3 points - 4/1 (Various)

For punters searching for something with a bit more leeway when it comes to getting Europe on side, backing them to win by a 1-3 point margin is perhaps the way to go – offered at a generous 4/1 across the board.

As mentioned, the away side come into the event as underdogs, but something feels different this year.

Donald can call upon two stalwarts from Medinah – Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose – who know what is like going into the bear pit and emerging victorious.

Furthermore, several members of Team USA haven’t exactly been firing on all cylinders of late.

Collin Morikawa has finished no higher than 19th since June. Patrick Cantlay has just one top-five finish since May and Xander Schauffele hasn’t played in several weeks following the birth of his child.

Bradley’s rookies are JJ Spaun, Ben Griffin, Russell Henley and Cameron Young. None stand out as names who would strike major fear into the European side.

Of course, Spaun is the US Open champion and Young won as an amateur at Bethpage, but the intricacies and atmosphere at a Ryder Cup means everything is amplified dramatically.

In contrast, Rasmus Hojgaard was part of the team environment at Rome in 2023 as Nicolai, his brother, was playing. Therefore, he has some degree of what goes on throughout the week – while his other 11 teammates know the task at hand all too well.

If Donald can exploit USA’s rookies and grab a foothold in the contest early, Europe have a great chance. But to win by a large margin on away soil feels unrealistic.

Therefore, 4/1 about Europe winning by 1-3 points looks the best ploy.
