Odds Now's golf expert Ross Kilvington tees up the 2025 Open de France in the latest of his betting preview columns.
The DP World Tour moves across the channel this week as the FedEx Open de France takes place, just a week before the Ryder Cup.
None of Team Europe will be in the field, however, as Luke Donald’s men travelled to New York following the conclusion of the BMW PGA Championship on Sunday.
This means the field is relatively wide open in France, giving plenty a wonderful opportunity to seal a tour win.
There will be plenty of home talent on show, but since 2015, only four French players have finished in the top ten of this event. Indeed, you have to go all the way back to 2011 for the last Frenchman to win – Thomas Levet.
The tournament is the oldest national championship in Continental Europe, with the first edition held in 1906. A roll call of winners includes Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomorie and Greg Norman.
This year, the tournament will move away from Le Golf National for the first time since 2001, with Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche playing host.
Will there be a home winner? Or can a less established player take advantage of the lack of stars in the field to make a name for themselves?
As always here at Odds Now, I've tried to pick out three selections who could do well this week.
This year might finally see a home winner, with the likes of Victor Perez, Antoine Rozner, Martin Couvra and Julien Guerrier leading the charge.
Adrien Saddier is perhaps best placed out of the home contingent, however, especially following his excellent week at Wentworth.
The 33-year-old lost in a playoff to Alex Noren, but it was a stunning week for the Frenchman. This came just a week after a top-five finish at the Irish Open, while he won the Italian Open just a few months ago.
It seems that Saddier loves a national open. Could he add another title this week? Across 2025, he ranks ninth for stroke average (69.74) and 26th for driving accuracy (62.45%).
That last stat in particular could come in handy, especially on the front nine with narrow fairways.
He will be looking to move on quickly from his disappointment at the BMW PGA. What a perfect opportunity he has this week to do just that in front of a boisterous home support.
Couvra has impressed me this season. Aged just 22, he has registered seven top-ten finishes so far on the DPWT in 2025.
He made his breakthrough at the Turkish Airlines Open, winning by two shots, while finishing second to compatriot Saddier at the Italian Open just three starts later.
The Frenchman enjoyed a solid week at Wentworth, sealing a much-needed 13th placed finish which came after missing his previous four cuts.
Furthermore, he ranked 26th last week for SG: Approach and 13th for greens in regulation.
His four rounds under par at the BMW PGA will give him plenty of confidence of impressing in his national open.
A few weeks ago, I tipped Guido Migliozzi ahead of the European Masters and he finished in a tie for 13th. This was a welcome return to form for the Italian, who had missed six of the previous seven cuts.
Of course, Migliozzi has previous history at the French Open, winning the event in 2022 at Le Golf National.
He sealed that victory with a truly stunning shot on 18. The fact he has won just once since then is a real shame considering his undoubted talent.
Last week, the Italian finished T24 at Wentworth. Even better, however, was the fact he ranked top of the field for SG: Approach during the week – showcasing how well he performed with his irons.
At 90/1, I’m willing to back Migliozzi once again as he bids to win for the first time in 15 months.
1pt EW - Adrien Saddier – 25/1 (Skybet - 8 places, 1/5 odds)
0.75pt EW - Martin Couvra – 50/1 (Skybet - 8 places, 1/5 odds)
0.5pt EW - Guido Migliozzi – 90/1 (Skybet - 8 places, 1/5 odds)
Total staked - 4.5pts
