European Masters betting preview: Hojgaard can scale Alps again

Golf tipster Ross Kilvington banged in a 14/1 winner on Sunday after putting up Tommy Fleetwood for his maiden success at the TOUR Championship.

Our man is back to see if he can do it again this week, switching to the DP World Tour for a preview of the 2025 European Masters – complete with three betting tips.

2025 European Masters key insights

The DPWT travels to Switzerland this week for the Omega European Masters, held at the stunning Crans-sur-Sierre in the Swiss Alps.

Crans-sur-Sierre has been the permanent host of the event since 1948, where an esteemed list of winners includes Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Nick Price, and Ernie Els.

This week marks the final chance to impress for those aiming to be picked by Luke Donald for his European Ryder Cup team next month.

Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Bob MacIntyre, Justin Rose, Rasmus Hojgaard, and Tyrrell Hatton have all secured their spots for Bethpage Black. But who will join them?

Those in the field this week will have an extra boost due to the fact that the par-70, 6,890-yard track is at altitude.

Let’s take a look at three selections from the betting market who could do well in the Swiss Alps this week.

2025 European Masters betting tips

Selection #1 - Rasmus Hojgaard – 2pts win at 18/1 (Various)

The obvious favourite at the top end of the market is Matt Fitzpatrick. The Englishman has won twice here, while also finishing runner-up and third during his career.

But skinny quotes of 9/1 mean I am turning to Rasmus Hojgaard instead, who will be much more relaxed this week, having secured his place in the European Ryder Cup team.

The Dane has been impressive in recent weeks. A T13 finish at the British Masters came under intense pressure, especially following his collapse at his home Danish Golf Championship just a week prior.

Hojgaard looked set to win his national tournament for the second time, but Marco Penge dramatically prevented him from doing so. A T16 result at the Open Championship also showcased his credentials, and Hojgaard has already won at Crans-sur-Sierre.

That came as a 20-year-old in 2021, when a final round 63 saw the Dane emerge through the field to secure his third European Tour victory.

Hojgaard ranks ninth in driving distance this season, but more importantly, he ranks 14th for greens in regulation (70.99%), which will ensure he has a major advantage as he seeks a second European Masters crown.

Selection #2 - Alex Fitzpatrick – 1pt E/W at 55/1 (Various - 6 places, 1/5 odds)

While I’m avoiding the elder Fitzpatrick, Alex is certainly one to watch in the Alps this week at a much chunkier price.

Across his two starts here, the Englishman has finished fifth and sixth, and if it weren’t for an erratic round of 75 on Saturday last year, Fitzpatrick would have won his first DPWT title.

He recovered to shoot 68 on the final day, but it wasn’t to be on that occasion. With Matt likely giving him pointers and plenty of advice as he continues to trend upwards, you’d think it won't be long before he secures his maiden win on tour.

Fitzpatrick ranked 19th for SG Approach last week, and given that the course will play short due to the altitude, this could stand the 26-year-old in good stead.

Selection #3 - Guido Migliozzi – 0.5pt E/W at 150/1 (PricedUp - 6 places, 1/5 odds)

It’s safe to say that Guido Migliozzi hasn’t enjoyed a great 2025. Across 15 events, the Italian has made just four cuts, finishing no higher than eighth.

Indeed, the last time he made the weekend was back in May at the Soudal Open. It is perhaps no wonder he is sitting at 125/1 ahead of this week.

But his performances at Crans-sur-Sierre since making his debut in 2019 suggest that he could be worth chancing, especially at the price.

Migliozzi finished T33 on his debut, before recording finishes of T7, T38, T13 and T8 over the previous four editions.

Despite his poor season, the Italian does rank eighth on tour for putts per round (28.53), which could prove useful in the Swiss Alps. He does, however, rank in a lowly 152nd place for driving accuracy on the DPWT.

Given the fact that the course is short by modern standards and at high altitude, Migliozzi’s poor driving stats might not get him into as much trouble as usual.

He may not have won the European Masters, but repeat form is always a key indicator of how a player will perform in the mountains.

Should the Italian get it together, a price of 125/1 will start to look very generous indeed.
