Odds Now’s golf tipster Ross Kilvington turns his attention back to the DP World Tour this week, previewing the season-opening 2025 Australian PGA Championship and offering up his usual golf betting tips.
Just two weeks after the 2025 DP World Tour Championship, the 2026 DPWT season kicks off this week with the Australian PGA Championship.
We at Odds Now sealed our biggest win of the season last week as Sami Valimaki won the RSM Classic at 50/1. He led after three rounds and held off his nearest challenger to win by a stroke in Georgia.
This week, the tournament will be held at the Royal Queensland Golf Club and marks the first of two events down under to open up the new campaign.
The field is fairly strong, with LIV Golfers Marc Leishman, Joaquin Niemann, Carlos Ortiz and Abraham Ancer all competing. As to major winners Cameron Smith and Adam Scott, who will be hoping to win on home soil.
Indeed, the previous seven editions held, dating back to 2017, has seen an Aussie triumph at the event.
With plenty of Australians in the field, Odds Now are backing another to shine in the Southern Hemisphere and lift the title on home soil.
As ever, we pick three selections from each of the top, middle and lower sections of the betting market, to give you a broad range of punting options.
Marc Leishman has enjoyed a hugely impressive career to date, yet he hasn’t won the Australian PGA title since turning professional 20 years ago.
His record at this tournament, however, has been mightily impressive since making his debut in 2016. Across six events, he has finished second once, third on two occasions and sealed a T4 result during the 2018 edition.
In fact, his worst ever showing here was T21 on his debut, while three of his top 12 results have come at Royal Queensland, suggesting he is comfortable with the course.
He might be 42, but Leishman has enjoyed a more than decent 2025 campaign. The Aussie won LIV Golf Miami in April, which contributed to his 13th place finish at the end of year rankings.
Last week, he finished T11 at the PIF Saudi International, following on from back-to-back top-tens in October. His game looks to be in a good place. The question is, can he put four strong rounds together to lift this title for the first time?
Alex Fitzpatrick has played Royal Queensland before, finishing in a respectable 18th place in his debut here in 2023.
That week, the Englishman shot rounds of 71, 67, 70 and 68 to seal a top 20 result – although he was 12 shots behind the eventual winner.
This should give him confidence heading into the week, especially after a consistent run of form recently.
He hasn’t missed a cut since September 21st at the Open de France. Since then, Fitzpatrick finished T9 at the Open de Espana, T3 in India, while finishing T21 and T41 at he Genesis Championship and the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship respectively.
Yet to win on the DPWT, a return to Australia might see Fitzpatrick finally emerge with a maiden tour title.
Leishman may be one of the Aussies near the top of the betting market, but Cameron John is a homeland contender who could be massively overpriced.
The 26-year-old hasn’t won on the DPWT as of yet, but he comes into the tournament having taken the title at the Queensland PGA Championship last week by two shots.
This came after a T17 result at the NSW Open, while he finished in the top 15 of his previous three starts prior to that, including second at the Nexus Advisernet Bowra & O’Dea WA Open.
Though admittedly not the most stacked fields in the game, John is trending nicely in the right direction and success breeds confidence – which may set him up for a big week in better company here.
At this course, he has also finished T22 and T28 in two of his last three starts. At odds of 125/1, the Aussie is looks worth having on side.
