Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) is back to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere right here on OddsNow.com.
Lee flags up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Let's see what he fancies today!
Outsider of a five-horse field, Guard The Moon has been left on the same mark by the handicapper after pulling up on his last outing.
This fella was a selection for this column when making his chase debut early last month and did not disappoint. Despite making a shuddering error at the final fence, he still went on to beat Kdeux Saint Fray by three lengths/
However he went up 7lbs for that success and ran absolutely no race at all last time out. To be fair, he made a race-ending error at just the fourth obstacle and was never going to recover from it. Sam Twiston-Davies did the sensible thing in pulling him up.
I'm assuming he's none the worse for that given he's back out here again just 18 days on. The first time cheekpieces go on this time, to try and aid his concentration at fences a bit presumably. You'd imagine he's been working with them at home.
If he runs to that chase debut form, he is still handicapped to go well here based on his overall body of work.
Potters Charm comes into this off the back of two solid runs, both coming in deeper-looking affairs than this one.
He was a decent horse last season throughout what was his novice hurdle campaign, winning his first five starts – two of which were Grade 2s.
He also added the Grade 1 Formby Novices Chase to his CV, the form of which worked out particularly well. The two length runner up Miami Magic (beat Regents Stroll in a novice chase last time out) and 11-length fourth Celtic Dino (won the Welsh Champion Hurdle first time out this season) both doing well since.
Potters Charm has had three runs so far this term. He fell very early on in his reappearance run but showed no ill-effects from that tumble next time out, finishing an eight-length third behind the smart Wodhooh in the Ladbrokes Hurdle at Ascot. No disgrace there, trying to give 10lbs in weight to a very smart winner.
He then stepped up in grade last time out and, again, he ran a cracker – finishing an eight-length fourth behind Impose Toi in the Long Walk Hurdle. Given the calibre of opposition in front and in behind him, that rates solid form in the context of this type of race.
If he repeats that form here, I expect him to put it up to market rival Nemean Lion.
