In a new addition to Odds Now's horse racing content, Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) will be popping in each weekday to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere.
Lee will be offering up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled on Odds Now for SD's Lunchtime Tip, too – it lands exclusively on site between 12.30pm and 1pm every weekday.
Not the force of old. He's dropped down to what looks like a very lenient mark based on his overall form.
Admittedly, he hasn't registered a win since February 2022. If you look at the type of races he's contested since then. It's easy to see why he's struggled.
He's got lots of top-class form. He placed in the Betfair Chase. He finished third in the Ryanair. He finished second in the 2021 Arkle behind Shishkin. He's also a Grade 2 course winner. Clearly, he's got lots of solid form
He did run well twice last season off higher marks than this. He finished second in one of these qualifiers behind Torn And Frayed. He was trying to give 19lbs in weight to the winner. The aforementioned went on to win off a mark of 128 a few weeks ago.
He ran well over course and distance off a mark of 150 on his next run. Beaten just 4L by the winner Numitor, back in third place. He gets a 13lbs weight swing with Numitor this time, so he should reverse the form.
The time to catch this fella is when fresh. His form figures off the back of 189+ day breaks reads 1211232. That bodes well for him here.
Makes his seasonal reappearance. Back down to a mark of 112. Just 4lbs above the mark he opened his chase account off last term.
He's had a recent run out over hurdles. Pulling up at Uttoxeter carrying 12st. He clearly had no chance of winning on those terms. Just a case of getting some fitness into his legs.
As mentioned above, he opened his Chase account over this distance last term. Absolutely bolting up, beating Lime Drop by 15L, with Knockanore a further 5L away in third place. The latter went on to win the Eider by 16L two runs later. Franking the form of this lad's win.
He's had one run at this course. Finishing second over this trip behind Handstands in a novice hurdle. Beaten 7L by the winner. No disgrace there, given the winner went on to win the Scilly Isles Novices last term.
If the first time blinkers work the oracle here. A mark of 112 is surely underestimating his ability.
Comes into this boasting a perfect record over fences, having won his sole run over the larger obstacles on reappearance and Chase debut at Worcester twenty-three days ago.
He was sent off 2/1 second favourite for his chase debut. With the high class, Wendigo sent off 5/4 favourite. Despite being outpaced, his stamina got him home in front here, beating Wendigo by a narrow margin. Both the front two gave the impression they wanted further.
This fella steps up in trip considerably for the first time under rules. He won his point over a slightly shorter distance. If anything, this trip will bring out further improvement, in my opinion.
He's clearly a chaser to keep on side at the moment. He's already surpassed his best RPR over hurdles in one run over fences (won three times over hurdles). I can see him winning a nice pot this season, starting with this race here.
