In a new addition to Odds Now's horse racing content, Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) will be popping in each weekday to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere.
Lee will be offering up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Don't forget to keep your eyes peels on Odds Now for SD's Lunchtime Tip, too – it lands exclusively on site between 12.30pm and 1pm every weekday.
JPR One currently sits 4lbs above the mark he defied to win this race a year ago – a feat he'll be trying to repeat on his seasonal reappearance.
That was a comfortable success last term, travelling into the race sweetly and taking up the running at the second last fence despite a small error at that obstacle. He was then pushed out to win comfortably, beating the fast-finishing Djelo.
When you look at what Djelo has gone on to achieve since, winning the Peterborough Chase next time out, then the Denman Chase (Grade 2) and the Charlie Hall Chase subsequently, it's clear he beat a very good horse that day.
Market leader Kalif Du Berlais is the class act in the field but I think this race asks a new question of him. He lines up against vastly more experienced chasers and that could eke out an error or two.
Martator is a bit of a worry here, given it is Venetia in November. But given the Joe Tizzard yard have won three of the last four renewals, it's JPR One I want to be with at the prices.
Jupiter Allen has his first run of the new campaign here with Harry Cobden booked to ride.
The handicapper hasn't shown any mercy, leaving him on the same mark that saw him a well-beaten 11th in the National Hunt Chase last March. Perhaps he's taken the view that the horse didn't stay that trip. It's fair to say he was far too keen for his own good, too.
Last year, he won over this course and distance - albeit off a 7lb lower mark. That day, he edged out the since ill-fated Abuffalosoldier in a tenacious finish. The latter then won a strong handicap at Cheltenham off 131 next time out, before tragically breaking down after the race.
Jupiter Allen boasts two wins from three visits to Exeter, so clearly loves the track. Last year's victory came off a six-month break, so the lack of prep run is no concern and I think despite the mark, he looks capable of going in again here against this field.
1pt win - 2.25pm Exeter - JPR One - 7/2 (Sky Bet)
1pt win - 3.35pm Exeter - Jupiter Allen - 11/4 (Bet365)
Total staked - 2pts
Prices correct as of 11am on Friday November 7th 2025
