Butty's Bets - horse racing tips for Monday December 8th 2025

2.45pm Musselburgh - Reflection Of You - 11/2 (various)

Reflection Of You is a lightly raced chaser with just three runs over the larger obstacles under rules to date.

She managed to win one of her bumper runs, with that win coming at this venue, absolutely bolting up to beat Sagonige by just over four lengths. She made every yard of it – nobody could lay a glove on her.

Aside from finishing a distant third on her second run over hurdles at Kelso, she did nothing of note over the smaller obstacles – though to be fair, she only had five runs in that sphere.

She's faired better over the larger obstacles, having placed on chase debut. I felt she could have won that day if it wasn't for bad mistakes at the last two fences She was only beaten five lengths in the end by the odds on winner Stumps Or Slips, who franked the form by winning again next time out off a 7lbs higher mark.

There's since been two further runs this term, the latter of which offered something to work with when finishing a decent third behind Burgundy Man. She was beaten just 5L by the winner – no disgrace there.

Returning to a track she loves and kept on the same mark, I think she could break her duck here if jumping more fluently this time.

3.15pm Musselburgh - Snow Dragon - 6/4 (various)

Snow Dragon has been nudged up just 1lb by the handicapper after what was an encouraging spin last time out.

He did nothing in his first four runs over hurdles, clearly needing the experience. Visually, he's needed time to fill into his frame too. This term, he seems to be a different horse having got another summer on his back and benefitting from more time to strengthen.

He ran a cracker on seasonal reappearence when held up out the back. He was making nice headway when clouting the second last hurdle, which checked his momentum. He ran on into third behind Nathan Wells, beaten just two lengths by the winner in the end.

He then bettered that form again last time out when running over today's track and trip. He caught the eye, making steady headway to mount a challenge after having to sit and suffer for most of the race when short of room. By the time he got a clear run, he again ran on into third place – this time behind Speed Davis. He went down four lengths in the end but the way the winner bolted up suggested to me that he'd bumped into one there.

If he runs a similar race here, and granted some better luck in running, he should go close in this weak-looking affair. A steady jockey also taking off a very useful 10lbs via a claim only further sweetens prospects.
