Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) is back to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere right here on OddsNow.com.
Lee flags up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled on Odds Now for SD's Lunchtime Tip, too – it lands exclusively on site between 12.30pm and 1pm every weekday.
Aire Spray has now slidden back to a nice mark following two lesser efforts this term – and today could be his time to strike.
He steps up in trip here, having finished a fair third in his only previous run over this course and distance. The winner that day, Punxsutawney Phil, went a mile clear of the field and was clearly very well handicapped but today's selection only went down by a length to the runner-up.
That run came off a mark of 101 with a 3lb claimer doing the steering. Today, he goes off 96 with the very capable Danny Mcmenamin doing the steering.
The jockey's win record for this stable is mightily impressive – 10 victories from just 32 rides – and I think all signs point to Aire Spray going mighty close this afternoon.
Paddy Mahler drops back slightly in trip today having finished runner-up once again last time out.
Both of his chase runs this term have seen only one horse too good for him, which is not bad going for his first two efforts over the larger obstacles. The first of those was a 3/4 length loss to Roe And Co, narrowly failing to give the winner 10lbs in weight. To be fair, the winner has since won again next time out and gone up 6lbs.
The more recent run wasn't as impressive, admittedly. He didn't jump with the same fluency and made a few silly errors, eventually beaten 13 lengths by winner Heeztheboy. He was trying to give 8lbs away though.
Today, he goes into a slightly stronger race – but crucially, does so off bottom weight. Like the first selection, Danny Mcmenamin does the steering, taking over from Peter Kavanagh, and he has a relationship with the horse already having ridden him on that far better effort two runs ago.
On a less demanding track today, I think he goes very close.
