Handicapper has left her mark untouched again. Having run off this mark of 120 the last 3 times.
She was in good form prior to the last run. She pulled up lto having made a bad mistake at the 6th fence. Sprawling on landing. If that hasn't affected her too much. I'm happy to draw a line through that effort.
She finished a solid 2nd in the Tommy Whittle on her penultimate run. Bumping into the well handicapped Grand Geste. No disgrace there, given I felt that horse was massively chucked in and backed him myself for that race.
Genuine heavy ground suits her well. With Form figures 1523 on such going. She had a good excuse for the below-par 5th place finish, also (an inexperienced conditional jockey and also running over a trip too short for her). Current going is Heavy, with more rain due. Which will suit her to a tee.
She's now 2lbs below the mark she defied to win a very competitive renewal of the Classic at Warwick. And also 7lbs below the mark, she finished 2nd behind the handicap blot, Yeah Man, in the Grand National Trial. For me, she's worth chancing here. This is the stable's sole runner of the day. The yard boasts a healthy 5 winners and 4 places from just 23 handicap chase runners at this course, over the past 5 seasons. The yard is in form at the moment, too.
Admittedly, it's been a while since he last got his head in front. He now finds himself 4lbs below his last winning mark.
A return to this course can hopefully spark an improved effort. Given the last 3 runs were pretty hopeless, to be fair, he was out of his depth due to his lofty mark (ran in 3 strong class 3 handicaps the last 3 runs. His form figures here read 2141 at this track
His seasonal reappearance effort was very promising, however. He finished a decent 3rd behind Thistle Ask and Rare Edition. Beaten just 7L by the winner, back in 3rd place. He was trying to give 16lbs in weight to the winner. When you consider what that horse has done since (won his next 3 runs, before finding just Jonbon too good in the Clarence House lto), that rates pretty decent form. That run comes off an 8lbs higher mark than this also.
If he runs a similar race here. Back at a course he clearly knows well. I think he could well pop up here, dropping back in grade this time.
