Butty's Bets - horse racing tips for Thursday November 13th 2025

1.59pm Sedgefield - Belle Na Bann - 25/1 (William Hill)

This one switches her attention to the larger obstacles this time, having had a blowout over hurdles last time out.

Admittedly, she's not the most trustworthy of horses, having not registered a win since January 2024. The most recent success did come off an 8lbs higher mark though (with jockey claims factored in). She also placed off that 8lbs higher mark at Catterick earlier on this year, finishing a clear second behind Maghlaak. The aforementioned horse is now rated 115.

As mentioned above. She had a recent pipe opener over hurdles at this course. Well beaten off in seventh place there but it's clear 2m5f is not her trip. She was in midfield throughout and pretty much stayed there.

Now, she drops in trip and switches to the larger obstacles off a lowly mark of 74. She's related to some useful chasers, so should find the transition no problem. I think she could surprise a few in here if jumping fluently enough. Despite being the rank outsider of the field (at the time of writing).

3.09pm Sedgefield - Ballyinch- 7/1 (various)

Ballyinch has had a recent pipe opener, too which should have blown away some cobwebs.

He's now down to a mark of 91, just 3lbs above his course and distance winning mark. He was headed two from home on that occasion, looking briefly outpaced but he kept on finding. Eventually, he got his nose back in front jumping the final fence and kicked on to run out a comfortable 2L victor over Fiston Du Mou.

He managed to win off that same mark of 88 again at Fakenham back in March 2024, absolutely bolting up – beating the since ill-fated Elleon just over 6L. He virtually made all the running, pulling clear when asked to do so.

Conor O'Farrell takes over in the saddle this time, which is a plus – but most importantly, the cheekpieces return, alongside the retained tongue tie (worn for the first time on last run). His form figures sporting cheekpieces read 412 (the fourth was off the back of a short break).

All told, I think this one is worth a wager at the prices.

3.40pm Sedgefield - Lillistar - 10/1 (various)

The handicapper has left Lillistar's mark untouched following a promising reappearance run over hurdles last time out.

She showed absolutely nothing in her first four runs over hurdles. That's until she ran at this course on her fifth run over obstacles, finally offering something to work with when dead heating for third place with Addosh. She was beaten 13L by the winner Demoiselle Kap, who went on to complete a four-timer of wins, rising from a mark of 98 all the way up to 119.

She's had two more subsequent runs at this venue, finishing second on both occasions. She bumped into a handicap blot in Feach Amach. Beaten 16L by the winner, when trying to give 10lbs in weight. No shame in that, given Feach Amach went in on its next two runs, with the most recent success off an 18lbs higher mark.

She reversed the form with Feach Amach most recently here. But still bumped into another one in Janworth, going down by a length.

With the recent run under her belt and solid course runs, I think she could go one place better at a course she's been very consistent at thus far.

3.40pm Sedgefield - Seeyainthesuninn - 66/1 (various, 4 places 1/5 odds)

Whilst undoubtedly Lillistar is the main play here. I can't ignore her stablemate Seeyainthesuninn.

He hasn't shown much in four runs over hurdles to date but it was the run at Haydock that caught my eye. He finished a fair fifth in a maiden hurdle, beaten 18L by the winner High Dancer. The first three home in that race are now rated 114, 105 and 107.

This lad runs off just a mark of 89 today and he's undoubtedly one of the least exposed rivals in this field. He had a recent pipe opener/ handicap debut run at Wetherby. He was sent off a 50/1 shot and he certainly ran like one also, pulling up having never got involved. Maybe he needed the run, though – his first run in 191 days.

He should be straighter here and this race won't take much winning. With lots of out-of-form and thoroughly exposed runners in here, I'll chance him each way at a monster price.
