Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) is back to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere right here on OddsNow.com.
Lee flags up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled on Odds Now for SD's Lunchtime Tip, too – it lands exclusively on site between 12.30pm and 1pm every weekday.
Connections are not messing about getting Star Of Affinity back out on the track after the Joe Tizzard-trained six-year-old ran a blinder on Chase debut a fortnight ago.
He was a very capable horse over hurdles, notching up three wins and four places across 13 runs in that sphere.
The pick of those efforts was his runner-up finish behind Ballytechno at Ascot. He definitely bumped into a useful handicapper there and was only beaten 2L. I really like Ballytechno. He's a horse who I believe still has got plenty in hand, especially now sent chasing. He won easily off a mark of 118 last time out.
Back to the selection, that aforementioned Chase debut at Chepstow came off a 198 day break. Cobwebs to be expected, naturally but he ran with great promise in what looked a strong Class 3 handicap (which I believe will work out very well in time).
He ran well for a long way there, creeping into contention four fences from home before a lack of recent run kicked in. Eventually beaten 15L by the winner Palacio, who was a winner for this column on that occasion.
Now, he goes back right handed (all three career wins have came going this way around) , with a recent run under his belt too. Dropping in grade, I think he will break his duck over fences if putting in a similar performance level again today.
Largy Force makes her seasonal reappearence, having switched stables since her last run. She is now under the care of Olly Murphy. Still a maiden under rules admittedly, she has shown useful form in the context of today's race.
She bumped into the useful Wilful on her sole bumper run, beaten just 3L by the winner. The aforementioned finished third in the Welsh Champion Hurdle off a mark of 134 last time out – so that's a decent yardstick.
She's shown bits and pieces since then when going over obstacles, with her best showings coming over fences.
She ran a cracker on chase debut, finishing a close up third behind Salt Rock and Paddy In The Caddy, beaten just under 2L by the winner. Salt Rock went up 6lbs for that win and won again easily next time out. Meanwhile, the second went up 4lbs for that effort and won again two runs later.
Her run behind Torneo at Taunton represents her best form where she finished third, beaten just 4L. Given how poorly she jumped throughout, that rates as a solid effort. The winner subsequently went close in a competitive Class 3 handicap chase off a mark of 122 at Cheltenham just a few days ago.
The change of scenery today will likely do her some good. She goes well fresh, so a lack of run is no issue, while a mark of 103 looks workable for sure. This track ought to suit her too, with form figures 22 on left-handed, undulating tracks.
