In a new addition to Odds Now's horse racing content, Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) will be popping in each weekday to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere.
Lee will be offering up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Don't forget to keep your eyes peels on Odds Now for SD's Lunchtime Tip, too – it lands exclusively on site between 12.30pm and 1pm every weekday.
Chase debutant Born In The West comes into this off the back of a recent pipe opener at Carlisle, where he ran very credibly.
He's also ran well in both previous visits to this track, with a couple of runner-up efforts, bumping into one on each occasion.
The pick of those saw him finish 3L behind Musique De Fee, who has franked the form considerably since then by winning two of her next three outings – the latest win being a Class 2 handicap off 119. She was only rated 102 when she beat today's selection, so clearly Born In The West bumped into one with more than a stone in hand.
The switch to the larger obstacles should see him improve, too. He's got plenty of point-to-point experience, with four runs in that sphere and one victory. He's bred to make a chaser and a mark of 104 looks fair for him to go close today.
Zeezee is still a maiden under rules but is a lightly-raced type, with just six runs to date.
Admittedly, she'd shown absolutely zilch until sent handicapping off a lowly mark. She ran a cracking race on handicap debut though, despite finishing fifth. She was only 7L behind the winner Divilabother.
The handicapper saw fit to drop her 1lb for that effort and she ran very well again, finishing a credible 3L second to Stiletto, who was making it two consecutive successes.
Pitted against her own sex here, I would expect her to find this assignment slightly easier and think today could well be her day.
