In a new addition to Odds Now's horse racing content, Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) will be popping in each weekday to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere.
Lee will be offering up anything that takes his eye at around 9AM each morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
It's been some start, with 6/4 and 11/2 winners put up in his first two columns. Let's see what he's eyeing today...
Aggagio reverts back to hurdles today having had a productive summer campaign racing on the flat (one win and two third place finishes from six flat runs in 2025).
As a result of those flat antics, he heads to Fontwell race fit. First-time cheekpieces also go on and if they can help him concentrate on his hurdles a bit more than before, he's on a nice enough mark here to get involved – particularly off this low weight.
Aggagio is a course and distance winner at Fontwell, too. Admittedly, it was a much weaker race than this – but he did it easily that day, hosing up by 8L. That win come off a 14lbs lower mark than this but couldn't have been anymore impressive.
He did win off marks of 110 and 106 elsewhere after that success too, with the win off 106 coming only last term. Clearly a mark of 109 is within his capabilities. and the cheekpieces can hopefully eke out more improvement in him.
Of Course I Can comes into this chasing a hat trick of wins, having won over course and distance on his penultimate run before following up at Newton Abbot over the same trip.
This is a quick reappearance, with that latest success coming just five days ago. On that occasion, he found plenty when asked to do so by jockey Bradley Harris, fending off Esperti by just over 1L. He was going away at the line, too.
The course and distance triumph essentially came off a 1lb higher mark. It was a jockeys' conditional handicap and his experienced pilot was unable to claim his usual 3lbs.
He travelled well enough throughout, always looking to be a massive danger and despite making a hash of the second last fence, he still found plenty to fend off the challenging He Is A Cracker by just over 2L.
That form with He Is a Cracker should be confirmed here given he's 4lbs better off at the weights for that recent success. If the race doesn't come too soon, this looks a penalty kick.
