In a new addition to Odds Now's horse racing content, Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) will be popping in each weekday to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere.
Lee will be offering up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Don't forget to keep your eyes peels on Odds Now for SD's Lunchtime Tip, too – it lands exclusively on site between 12.30pm and 1pm every weekday.
Another one making their seasonal bow this week, Grandeur d'Ame finds himself lumbered with top weight here.
Admittedly, he needs to find a bit extra to win off this career-high mark. However, the horse has a fantastic record when running fresh, boasting form figures of 1211 off the back of six-month breaks.
Overall, his form reads strongly. Defeating Ga Law off just a 6lb lower mark on seasonal reappearance last year has aged well. That horse is a 150+ rated performer now, who has won off 150 and placed off 155. It was a comfortable victory Grandeur d'Ame enjoyed then, too.
The main danger undoubtedly looks to be likely favourite Be Aware, who will have bigger targets in mind this season I suspect. The remainder all have a bit to prove at the time of writing.
That record when going fresh has really drawn me in and I expect this lad to win.
It looked like Joining Force's first spin of the season was going to come on Monday in what was a strong looking handicap chase. Having skipped that, this looks far more winnable.
To date, he's had four runs under rules. His sole bumper run was okay, running into third and beaten 9L by the winner, Moneygarrow – a horse who went on to finish third in the Persian War earlier this month.
Then followed three runs over hurdles, which brought about two placed efforts. The horse had all the makings of being brought along steadily, gaining vital racing experience and also a nice handicap mark.
To me, the 102 rating here looks lenient. Joining Force has some decent point-to-point experience (two runs) which will obviously stand him in good stead over the larger obstacles.
What's more, the latter of those P2P outings reads well. He was a four-length second to Forty Coats, who went on to finish fourth in the Turners Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival back in March.
All considered, he looks primed to give this a good go.
