Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) is back to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere right here on OddsNow.com.
Lee flags up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Let's see what he fancies today!
West To The Bridge sits 5lbs below his last winning mark coming into this race, with Harry Skelton climbing back aboard for the first time this term.
Admittedly, this horse is long in the tooth, now into his teenage years – and is clearly no longer a progressive type. And he enters in torrid form. But if they are to get another win out of him before retirement, today may be as good an opportunity as they get.
I think the booking of Skelton is a huge hint that a decent run could be forthcoming. Harry is 2/4 on this lad when sporting today's setup of cheekpieces only. His career wins have also all came between November and March, with January form figures of 214125. So this is certainly the time to catch him on a going day.
He has a course and distance win in the book off this exact same mark, which also came in January with Skelton on board. The rain won't hinder his effort, having had all his prior successes on soft ground. So at the prices, I believe he's worth chancing today.
If Not For Dylan is another old boy who catches my eye today. The Lucinda Russell yard did have two entered here but with Rattling Road now a non-runner, their sole focus surrounds this likeable 11-year-old. Stable jockey Derek Fox does the steering.
He's now down to the same mark he defied to land this race last term, though it should be noted he had a 5lbs claimer on board there. He got up comfortably pip Choosethenews on that occasion, having made virtually all the running and heading to the last with a five-length lead. Though he idled somewhat on the run-in, it still resulted in an easy two-length success.
His three runs this season have brought mixed results. On reappearance, he ran a decent third behind Torn N Frayed in a veterans race, beaten 17 lengths in the end. A bad mistake at the third last fence put paid to his chances there. He was then seen in the Grand Sefton, well beaten when unseating his rider at the fourth last fence. And then, most recently, he was beaten into a seven-length fourth last time out – perhaps still feeling the effects of his prior outing.
I like the fact he's had a short break since then and there's no doubt he thrives in January, with form figures for the opening month of the year reading 1211. This looks another winnable opportunity for him on a course he clearly adores.
