Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) is back to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere right here on OddsNow.com.
Lee flags up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled on Odds Now for SD's Lunchtime Tip, too – it lands exclusively on site between 12.30pm and 1pm every weekday.
Eloi Du Puy makes his seasonal reappearance here, going straight over the larger obstacles for the first time.
He sits just 4lbs above his last winning mark, which admittedly did come over hurdles but was at this same track. Over a slightly shorter 2m5f, he found plenty for pressure on that occasion during a sustained battle with Forged Well, holding him off to win by a short head.
The selection has ample experience at Kelso, with three victories and two placed efforts from eight career visits. This 2m7f trip is a new one, though he did place over 1f shorter here last term. The winner that day, Nab Wood, franked the form by winning of a 9lbs higher mark on his most recent run.
I'm not concerned about the lack of recent run, given he won on reappearance in 2023. Providing he translates his hurdles from over to this sphere, I think Eloi Du Puy has a bit in hand and could oblige at a sizeable price.
Realisation steps up in trip today following a decent seasonal reappearance last month at Carlisle. Though she is still a maiden after six career runs, I believe there's been enough on show to suggest she can get competitive off her current mark.
She actually appeared at this meeting last season, running a cracker off a 3lbs higher mark over a slightly shorter trip than this (2m4f). Finishing an unlucky second, she was closing on eventual winner Hurlerontheditch with every stride but simply ran out of time – going down by a head.
That winner is sadly ill-fated now but did follow up that win with an easy win again next time out off 4lbs higher.
That recent run will have been a good pipe opener after 202 days off the track following a summer wind operation. Though fourth out of seven runners doesn't suggest much promise, she was actually bang in contention before belting the second-last fence – eventually beaten 9L.
I think the step up in trip should suit perfectly, with a sole point-to-point run over 3m offering promise. I'd be amazed if she's not involved come the finish today.
