Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) is back to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere right here on OddsNow.com.
Lee flags up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Let's see what he fancies today!
My Bobby Dazzler makes a quick reappearence here having basically blew all chance of winning at the start last time out.
This will be just his fifth chase run to date and he's down to a mark of 109, which is 11lbs below the mark he defied to win on chase debut.
He goes into veterans company for the first time here, in what looks a wide open race. Based on form alone, you'd have to say this fella holds leading claims.
Even his fourth place finish behind Hidden Heroics at Ludlow with would give him a sound chance today. He was only beaten just over three lengths by the winner there and had the likes of Fantastikas (second) and Dreaming Blue (third) just in front of him.
Trainer Mel Rowley is 1/1 with chasers at this track over the past five seasons, so though it's a rare trip here, it's certainly not a negative sign. This is the yard's sole runner of the day, too.
The Donald McCain Jr yard waste little time in getting Count Adhemar sent over the larger obstacles here. This is both his chase and handicap debut and sees a step up in trip for the first time in his career.
This horse has shown glimmers of ability in his four previous runs under rules. He finished a distant third on debut to My Kiwi Girl, beating 48 lengths by the winner – though to be fair, the ground was atrocious that day with only five out of eight finishing the race, strung out like washing.
His novice hurdle run on seasonal reappearance was solid enough, finishing a fair third behind a high-class animal in Idaho Sun, with his stablemate They Want Me in second. The 31-length distance between Count Adhemar and the winner looks lofty but it's worth noting Idaho Sun is currently a 16/1 shot for the Supreme Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham in March, so he was in good companies. The winner that day is now three from three over hurdles, while the second also won next time out.
The selection ran below par on his last spin, weakening quickly. That wasn't his true running and it may prove a blessing in disguise today, given he's been allocated a lowly mark of 95 for his handicap debut.
This is a half-brother to the likes of Shantou Bob (a former 146-rated chaser) and Uncle Danny (former 144-rated chaser). So off 95, there's plenty of reason to think he can be better than this opening mark.
1pt win- 12.47pm Catterick - My Bobby Dazzler - 5/2 (various)
1pt win -1.47pm Catterick - Count Adhemar - 5/1 (various)
Total staked - 2pts
Prices correct as of 11:30am on Wednesday, January 21st 2026.
