In a new addition to Odds Now's horse racing content, Lee Butterworth (@ButtysBets on X) will be popping in each weekday to offer his daily betting selections from the National Hunt sphere.
Lee will be offering up anything that takes his eye each weekday morning, with all stakes tracked for P/L purposes.
Don't forget to keep your eyes peels on Odds Now for SD's Lunchtime Tip, too – it lands exclusively on site between 12.30pm and 1pm every weekday.
De Legislator makes his first seasonal appearance back on the same mark he made his chase debut off last term.
That was a disappointing run – though there's a big caveat in that he'd been off the track for 702 days prior to it. Lucinda Russell wasn't in the best of form at the time either and having trailed in last of the five runners, it's best to put a line through that outing.
Last time out, he absolutely bolted up over this trip at Wetherby with first-time cheekpieces applied. Art Of Diplomacy was three lengths back in second but De Legislator was extending that gap at the line, hinting he still had more in the tank.
That form could hardly have been franked any better since, with Art Of Diplomacy now rated 137 having won no less than five times since that day.
Clearly, he's not the easiest horse to get right but if he retains the ability displayed on his last run eight months ago, he'll take the beating here.
Hold That Taught has a bit to prove on his seasonal reappearance here but at the prices, catches my eye.
He's now 2lbs below the mark he defied to win over thie course and distance four runs ago (December 2023). That was a slightly weaker race than this but he could hardly have been more impressive, routing Good Work by five lengths despite giving away 18lbs in weight.
He also has a defeat of Tea Clipper under his belt too, which reads well. Despite being hampered by a loose horse approaching the final fence thdat day, he found plenty under pressure to score by a length. He was receiving a stone in weight but equally, that was him defeating a 136-rated rival despite being on a mark of 122 at the time.
You do have to forgive last season, which was a washout. Two runs, two shockers. But perhaps the revised mark was simply too high for the horse to handle.
Back down to a mark of 123, and carrying a feather weight due to higher-rated rivals in this field, this could be an opportunity for Hold The Taught to bounce back to his best form.
Fox's Fancy returns to a track she knows very well here, having ran two strong races at Ayr at the back-end of last term.
She was very unlucky in March over a slightly further trip than this, going down a neck to Ruby Island. She just couldn't quite sustain her challenge to the line, headed close home – but the front pair were 13 lengths clear of the rest of the field there.
Then, in April, she finished a respectable third in a Class 2 mares handicap hurdle. The winner that day, The Lord Maid, made its reappareance in a strong-looking Pertemps qualifier at Aintree last weekend and ran a cracker to finish third, just four lengths behind the winner Impose Toi.
The selection made her chase debut at Hexham four weeks ago but got no further than the sixth fence. Providing she's none the worse for that tumble, she looks to have strong claims here in what is a weak looking Class 4 affair.
